Aaron Dobie

Aaron completed his bachelor’s of Kinesiology and master’s of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. Throughout his education, he worked as a Kinesiologist and Strength & Conditioning coach in the Vancouver area. As an elite mountain bike racer and sports enthusiast, Aaron specializes in sport and other orthopaedic injuries. He uses his training background as a key component of his treatment along with manual therapy and patient education. Aaron assesses and treats your current complaint but also teaches you how to stay injury free.

Jeannette Lim

Jeannette received her Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia and Master’s in Science of Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. In conjunction with her physiotherapy background, Jeannette uses Clinical Pilates training to offer proactive exercise rehabilitation alternatives to her clients. Through assessment and client engagement, Jeannette looks to teach proper techniques to prevent injury and help clients achieve their goals.

Derek Fletcher

Derek graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Physical Therapy after completing a Bachelor degree in Kinesiology from the University of Fraser Valley. With a keen interest in continuing education Derek has completed study in advanced manual therapy and manipulation techniques, dry needling, active release, mobilization with movement and concussion management. Derek believes in treating the underlying cause to maximize function and minimize the risk of re-injury through manual release, dry needling and specific targeted exercises. Derek finds no greater joy than using his knowledge and skills to allow others to participate and excel in what they love.

Adam Morrison

Adam completed his degree in Biology and Master’s in Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. Following that, he completed further training in concussion rehabilitation & prevention, mobilization through movement, treatment of referred neck pain, vestibular rehab, and orthopaedic manual therapy. His approach to  treatment includes a mixture of manual therapy, soft tissue techniques and movement retraining, coupled with a custom exercise prescription. He works with clients to create treatment plans in line with their goals, and provides education to help them take charge of their rehabilitation.

Melina Mirzaei

Melina completed her undergraduate degree for Kinesiology and Master of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. Previous to becoming a physiotherapist, Melina worked at GPP as a Kinesiologist and Pilates Instructor. Melina also works with a local rugby club, providing physiotherapy treatment and on-field assistance. As an active person herself, Melina is keenly interested in helping clients in their rehabilitation through education, exercise, and encouraging bodily awareness to prevent injury. It’s that continued curiosity regarding the human body that has caused Melina to pursue aiding others in their recovery process and journey to improved health and well being.

Christian Kubas

Christian received his Master’s of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia and his Bachelor’s of Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley. His background includes several years as a certified personal trainer and kinesiologist through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. His eclectic approach utilizes manual therapy, manipulation, acupuncture, exercise and education to optimize and restore movement. Christian is a Clinical Athlete Provider working towards bridging the gap from a clinic rehab setting to high impact sport and gym environments. Christian is also a published lead author in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.

Mark Borslein

Mark is proud to own and manage Gastown Physio & Pilates, a collection of health and fitness professionals. Our mission is to treat our everyday clients like our athletes in Freestyle Ski, Snowboard, Para-Alpine, Triathlon, Speed-Skating, Mountain Biking, BMX, and Ballet among others. Mark is currently developing a comprehensive back rehabilitation program incorporating Pilates and current evidence based practice.

Massage Therapists

Kierra Hautula

After graduating from the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy, Kierra has worked globally, as well as within her own practice in Golden, BC. Her background includes working with sports injuries and pelvic issues. She is in her second year at the Canadian College of Osteopathy and incorporates the techniques learned into her practice, focusing on the lower extremities, spinal care, and cranio-sacral techniques.

John Azevedo

John graduated from Sutherland-Chan College for Registered Massage Therapy and has since had experience in clinical, corporate and spa settings. John’s background also includes time in Thailand learning Thai massage and Foot Reflexology. As an avid marathon runner and cyclist, he enjoys treating sports injuries, but also focuses his practice on treating sciatic nerve disorders, chronic and stress-related pain management, and prenatal massage.

Virginia Bouchard

Virginia graduated from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy where she received the Heart Award – given to the student who shows the most unconditional positive regard toward others and has a passionate commitment to excel within the profession. Prior to her schooling at VCMT she attended The University of British Columbia Okanagan where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Virginia believes that receiving regular massage treatments has a plethora of beneficial effects on a person – one of the major ones being stress, which is believed to be at the root of many chronic illnesses. Virginia is also an avid runner and student of yoga, and is looking forward to meeting new patients and working with them towards their individual health goals.

Lauren Levy

Lauren graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2013. She has since completed continuing education in systemic deep tissue therapy and core stabilization. She facilitates and encourages the recovery of her client’s health, helps them find optimal balance and stability and also empowers them with knowledge so they can reach their own goals with confidence and ease. Her style of massage is dependant on the client, going deep into musculature when needed and always with a flow that allows the body to relax.

Jennifer Free

Jennifer received her Honours Massage Therapy diploma from Algonquin College and has since furthered her education by obtaining her Fitness Consultant, Personal Training Specialist, and Kinesio Taping Certifications and has taken numerous courses in Sports and Athletic Massage, Myofascial Release and Nutrition. Jennifer also worked at the Whistler Athletes Village in the Polyclinic for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and was the Massage Therapist with the Para-Alpine Ski Team for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. She excels in sports massage, repetitive strain injuries, chronic pain, postural dysfunctions, and pregnancy massage.

Stephen Jay

Stephen is a Registered Massage Therapist working at both the Gastown Physio & Pilates and Gastown Wellness clinics. Originally from Nova Scotia, Stephen ran a successful practice and worked as a faculty member at Northumberland College, a school for Massage Therapy. He instructed Anatomy, Clinical Assessment, Treatment Skills, and Massage/Hydrotherapy Techniques classes. Stephen has had the privilege of working with many wonderful clients over the years, and has developed a style of treatment he likes to say is therapeutically effective while remaining clinical and comfortable.

Ashley Beck

Ashley finds Pilates to be a wonderful movement modality, which will lead to a deeper level of connection within our bodies and our lives. She believes a gentle but strong workout can make all of us feel energized and alive. Building on this philosophy, Ashley teaches her students to be accountable for their bodies by building an understanding of their individual limitations and strengths and encourages students to carry over what they have learned with her into their daily lives.

Ron Reichert

Dr. Ron was the Staff Naturopathic Physician for 3 years at the prestigious Tzu Chi Institute for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Vancouver General Hospital. In addition to operating a private practice dedicated to integrated medicine, he has also worked as an expert consultant in natural products and regulatory affairs to the dietary supplement industry. His primary medical focus is delivering integrative naturopathic medical approaches for a wide number of chronic conditions, including pain control and stress management.

Ryan Murphy

As a Certified Kinesiologist, Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer, Ryan Murphy brings a comprehensive understanding of how to build a healthier, more aligned body. His experience in Kinesiology focuses on the biomechanics of human movement, orthopedics and rehabilitation. Ryan also draws from his experience as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor to create an integrated approach to injury rehabilitation.
